The Plaza de la Estación gets its name from the old train station, which was built in the late 19th century and a railway line between Torrevieja and Albatera served. Today he is no longer in use and is used as a green path. The station consisted of several buildings, one of which was used for various purposes: Habanera Musuem, the Natural History Museum and Exhibition Centre on the salt industry.
Do not forget to visit the latter, it will help you to understand a large part of the history of Torrevieja. In the immediate vicinity of the square you will find the monument Salinero and the irrigation channel was built in 1482 to connect to the target, the sea and the Torrevieja lagoon. The channel also has a bridge of masonry, which dates from the 15th century.
