Figures of the Salt Workers and Puente de Silleria

At the Av. de la Estación is all about the salt and the history of Torrevieja. Salt extraction of Torrevieja experienced its biggest boom in the 19th century. Since then the salt is exported from its port from around the world. The statues of salt workers at Av. de la Estación remember the time in the 18th century – as in the lagoon a large amount of salt was found and the salt mining in Torrevieja began.

In 1482 the bridge was built of ashlar masonry. It is located on one of the channels that are responsible for carrying fresh water from the lagoon to the sea.
