The historical function of Salinen is to remind where the salt workers were loading years ago their barges with salt and applied to the anchor in the bay ships, meaning that the Salinen Historical Monuments represent a large part of the history of Torrevieja. Immediately after entering you will notice the local connection to the area.
There is a plaque dedicated to all salt workers who have worked in one of the institutions of that era. The area consists of piers and jetties, which formed the system of collection, dispatch and loading of the salt from the local salt mines at the end of the 18th century. The construction was started in 1777, at the most appropriate place for charging the recovered from the lagoon to salt the time.
In 1997 it was renovated with wood from the original structure, including the last bracket and the slide, with the salt was transported in barges. In this area now a series of events are held, including the International Habanera and Polyphony Contest, which won the International Tourist Interest.
